Combs Reservoir was originally designed to feed a canal in the Peak District National Park and it is located close to the village of Combs in Derbyshire. There are two great Combs Reservoir walks on the Derbyshire Walks app which take you alongside the reservoir, to the village with a pub and through the beautiful Peak District countryside.

Combs Reservoir walk

This lovely little walk starts from Combs Reservoir, travels through fields and a country lane towards the small pretty village of Combs which lies in a quieter area of Derbyshire, sitting beneath the crag-fringed slopes of Combs Moss. The walk then travels uphill for a short while where you will have wonderful views of the reservoir and the beautiful surrounding countryside. Then its downhill all the way through farm fields, tracks and small patches of woodland. The final part of the walk is along the western shore of the reservoir. On the walk you will pass the Beehive pub, a lovely traditional pub where you can have a drink and something to eat before your climb up the hill! The path alongside Combs reservoir may be very muddy in wet weather, so please have appropriate footwear to match the weather. There is also some roadside walking on sections of the walk, so please be careful when walking on the road.
Combs Reservoir walk including Ladder Hill

This is a delightfully rewarding walk which will take you along a Combs Reservoir shoreline footpath towards the tiny village of Combs. In the village you will find the lovely traditional Beehive pub where you can stop for refreshments. From the village the walk heads up towards Ladder Hill which is quite a stiff hill but where you will be rewarded with some superb views. After admiring the views its downhill all the way back over fields, farm tracks and through small areas of woodland. The path alongside the reservoir may be very muddy in wet weather and there is some walking along quiet country lanes, so please be careful.
