Panshanger Park is a vast 1,000 acre countryside park in Hertfordshire with lakes and rivers, scenic countryside and shaded woodland.

Cassiobury Park is a large 190 acre park in Watford with the pretty Grand Union Canal running through it. It’s a popular place to walk where you can enjoy woodland paths, play areas and a relaxing stroll along the canal.

Northaw Great Wood in Hertfordshire is nearly 300 acres of beautiful ancient woodland that was once part of a Norman forest.

Heartwood Forest is the largest continuous new native forest in England, covering 860 acres and containing over 600,000 newly planted trees.

There are many walks that we love in and around Hertfordshire, but here are a selection of our favourites in no particular order.

Verulamium park is close to St Albans and covers over 100 acres. It’s a popular place to walk and enjoy the beautiful scenery and historic surroundings.

This first route option is the recommended 'Commons Walk' around the pretty Oughtonhead Common. It's a nice short stroll with sections of pretty open grassland teeming with wildlife and a section of walking alongside the River Oughton.
